Hawa Mahal

Hawa Mahal, which is adjacent to the famous City Palace wall, was built in 1799 by Maharaja Sawai Pratap Singh and has now become one of the major landmarks of Jaipur. The palace is shaped like a pyramid and a five-story building, with a number of small windows and screens, with arched roofs. As one look at this building, one realizes that the back side of the building is relatively plain and does not have many decorations. One is rather surprised at the contrast, because in front there is intricate carving and much attention has been paid to even minute details, but the more mass behind the pillars and parts.





The Palace of the Winds constructed using pink sandstone. Hawa Mahal is a great example of Rajputana architecture, which is strongly influenced by the style of Mughal architecture. This particular style of building that we observe in Hawa Mahal, using the best features of Mughal architecture with other features that can better adapt to the inhospitable weather conditions, Rajasthan.



Hawa Mahal is a popular place among visitors to Rajasthan because it offers stunning views of the city and particularly Jantar Mantar (another tourist attraction). Many insist that the best time to visit the Hawa Mahal is in the morning, just as the sun rises. As the palace bathes in the golden light of the sun, looks like a fantastic image conjured by the conscious mind. The palace shone like a dream, which makes you feel that even if you dare blink your eyes, it will quickly dissolve into thin air.
